Interactive intent modelling

چکیده
Predicting the e cacy of a drug for a given individual, using highdimensional genomic measurements, is at the core of precision medicine. However, identifying features on which to base the predictions remains a challenge, especially when the sample size is small. Incorporating expert knowledge o↵ers a promising alternative to improve a prediction model, but collecting such knowledge is laborious to the expert if the number of candidate features is very large. We introduce a probabilistic model that can incorporate expert feedback about the impact of genomic measurements on the sensitivity of a cancer cell for a given drug. We also present two methods to intelligently collect this feedback from the expert, using experimental design and multi-armed bandit models. In a multiple myeloma blood cancer data set (n=51), expert knowledge decreased the prediction error by 8%. Furthermore, the intelligent approaches can be used to reduce the workload of feedback collection to less than 30% on average compared to a naive approach.

Rapidly Scaling Dialog Systems with Interactive Learning
In personal assistant dialog systems, intent models are classifiers that identify the intent of a user utterance, such as to add a meeting to a calendar, or get the director of a stated movie. Rapidly adding intents is one of the main bottlenecks to scaling — adding functionality to — personal assistants. In this paper we show how interactive learning can be applied to the creation of statistic...
متن کاملMulti-agent evolutionary systems for the generation of complex virtual worlds
Modern films, games and virtual reality applications are dependent on convincing computer graphics. Highly complex models are a requirement for the successful delivery of many scenes and environments. While workflows such as rendering, compositing and animation have been streamlined to accommodate increasing demands, modelling complex models is still a laborious task. This paper introduces the ...
متن کاملPersonalization of Search Results using Interactive Intent Modeling
In interactive intent modeling the user participates in constructing a model of her search intent using an interactive user interface. This allows the user to iteratively refine the model used for personalizing her search results, even in the presence of high initial uncertainty of the search intent. This approach for personalization has been shown to be beneficial in exploratory information re...
متن کاملIncorporating Authorial Intent into Generative Narrative Systems
One of the major themes to emerge in interactive narrative research is authorability and authorial intent. With interactive narratives, the human author is not present at run-time. Thus authoring interactive narratives is often a process of anticipating user actions in different contexts and using computational mechanisms and data structures for responding to the participant. Generative approac...
متن کاملLearning User Intent from Action Sequences on Interactive Systems
Interactive systems have taken over the web and mobile space with increasing participation from users. Applications across every marketing domain can now be accessed through mobile or web where users can directly perform certain actions and reach a desired outcome. Actions of user on a system, though, can be representative of a certain intent. Ability to learn this intent through user’s actions...
متن کاملAdvanced Concepts for High - Level Graphics Languages
Much effort has been expended in the past years on the specification of the CORE and the GKS subprogram system standard proposals. Both have a common intent: They standardize the input/output interface between an application program and the graphics terminals. Such systems can not, however, address the modelling problem, i.e. ways and means to create or define graphical objects. This task is at...
